Join us for our next Breakfast with Brokers on August 29th at Dilworth Neighborhood Grille from 7:30-9:00am. This is a great way to network with other CRCBR members.

Tracy Dodson with City of Charlotte and Peter Zeiler with Mecklenburg County will discuss how the City and County are working together in Economic Development, building a collaborative approach.  How does this play out with the Chamber and CRP and who is responsible for what (from business recruitment and retention) and what are some of the initiatives each organization is working on.

Speakers

Tracy Dodson

Tracy Finch Dodson joined the City of Charlotte on May 7, 2018, as an Assistant City Manager.  Her City portfolio includes oversight of the Economic Development and Aviation departments. Tracy has spent more than 20 years in Charlotte and has extensive experience in diverse aspects of real estate development. Prior to joining the City of Charlotte, Tracy was the senior vice president at Lincoln Harris, where she worked on large-scale mixed-use developments in North and South Carolina.  Before joining Lincoln Harris, Tracy worked with Cushman & Wakefield, Charlotte Center City Partners and Harris Development Group focusing on real estate development, economic development, and brokerage. She has also worked for the City of Charlotte as a program manager and transit development coordinator. Tracy has been a member of the North Carolina Board of Transportation since March 2015. Tracy earned a bachelor's degree in architecture and psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She later attended Harvard University, where she earned a Masters of Design Studies in Real Estate and Urban Development.

Peter Zeiler

As a Certified Economic Developer with 18 years of experience, Peter Zeiler serves as the Director of the Office of Economic Development for Mecklenburg County, NC. He leads a team tasked with creating and implementing the comprehensive policies and programs called for in the County’s first ever strategic framework for economic development, including: business attraction and retention, small business and entrepreneur support, work force development, tourism development and building strong connected communities. Past experience includes: leading a team of project managers in Austin, TX in facilitating the development of more than 800 acres of City owned land in public –private partnerships; managing transit oriented development, public private partnerships and business attraction in Charlotte, NC, and the development of public assets and business attraction in Detroit, MI. In addition to serving on several organizational boards, Peter has also taught undergraduate classes as adjunct faculty and frequently lectured for graduate coursework in urban studies and economic development.
